How to create a sign-up form with MailerLite

MailerLite offers a range of options when it comes to sign-up forms, but in this tutorial, we will guide you on how to make a popup form and how to add it to your WordPress site.

How to set up and design a pop-up form
Create your first pop-up
1. Go to Forms.
2. Click Create.
3. Enter a Form name.
4. Choose Pop-up as the type of form.
5. Click Save and continue.
Select a group
1. Select a group to classify the subscribers that are added through the form.
2. If you want to create a new group, click Add new group.
3. Enter a group name.
4. Click Create.
5. Click Continue once you have selected a group.
Add content and design the popup
1. Select Simple signup as the template
2. In the Design Settings, change the colors, the sidebar background image, and fonts.
3. Go to Additional Settings and add disclaimer texts and confirmation checkboxes
4. In the Additional settings, you can configure sidebar settings and mobile settings
Configure the form settings
1. Hover over the block you want to edit and click the pen icon.
2. Edit the Button text and Button action
3. Add and edit the fields
4. Click Save
5. Once you finish designing and adding content to the popup, preview and proofread for any spelling or design errors.
6. If everything looks OK, click Done editing

Set up trigger
The most important part of pop-up forms is the timing, you want it to appear when your potential customers are ready and interested, or if they are not interested, you can tell them why not to leave.
1. Select Time on page, it’s recommended to set the waiting time to at least 5 seconds
2. You can also set up an Exit intent popup. An exit intent popup appears on a user’s screen when they seem like they’re about to leave a website.
Configure frequency and schedule the popup
1. Manage how often the popup should appear to the same users again. Nobody wants to see the same popup every time they browse your website.
2. You can also schedule the popup if it’s an offer or a sale for a limited time.
3. Select where you want the popup to appear
4. When you are done setting up the behavior settings, click Save changes
Add a MailerLite form to your wordpress site
Integrate MailerLite to your wordpress site
1. click Integrations
2. Click Use next to API
3. Click Generate a new token
4. Enter a token name, read the terms of use, and click Create token
5. Copy the generated token.
Install the MailerLite plugin to your wordpress site
1. Now, log in to your WordPress admin panel.
2. Open Plugins from the left sidebar.
3. click Add New.
4. search for the MailerLite plugin.
5. Install the plugin and activate it.
6. Now, you will see the MailerLite icon on the left sidebar. Click on the icon.
Enter the API key to your wordpress site
1. Enter the API key you copied.
2. click Save this key.
