How to create and send your first newsletter with Activecampaign
A newsletter is an email you send to your subscribers to keep them updated about upcoming events or products.
You can create beautiful email newsletters with Activecampaign’s intuitive email builder.
Here is a step-by-step guide on how to create and send your newsletter with ActiveCampaign
Create a campaign
(a) To create a campaign, go to Campaigns
(b) Click on Create your First Campaign
(c) Enter a campaign name
(d) Select a campaign type. Select Standard if you wish to send a one-time email
(e) Click Next
Select a list
(a) Select the list or lists you would like this campaign to send to
(b) You can also add segments to target only specific types of contacts.
- To add a segment, Click on Segment Selected List(s)
- Click on Add a new Segments Group
- Click on the dropdown and select a condition or any information you prefer
- Specify the action and click Done
Design your campaign
(a) Choose a template type, and click Confirm
(b) You can either choose a prebuilt template or start designing from scratch
- To select a template, hover over the template you wish to use and click Select
(c) You will be taken to the email editor, where you can add and design your content.
(d) Add a logo to give the email a personal touch, and after that, write a concise yet descriptive title.
And when you write the body copy, it is important that you make it easy to read and optimize it for mobile users.

(e) Once you finish designing the campaign, we recommend you test the email and revise it if there is any error.
- To test the campaign, click the letter icon on the upper right-hand of the page
- Enter the email address you want the campaign sent to, and click Send
(f) Once you are done previewing and revising the campaign, click Next
Review and send your campaign
You will be taken to Campaign Summary, a quick review before you send your campaign.
(a) Here, you can change the title of the campaign, the from email, the company address, etc.
(b) You can also configure tracking options. To activate any tracking, set the toggle to “On”.
(c) On the bottom of the page, you can send test emails, preview, and see if your campaign passes the spam check.
- If your email does not pass the spam check, the reasons could be overusing capitalization, symbols, or images.
(d) You have two options when sending your campaign
- You can send it immediately by clicking Send Now
- You can also schedule the campaign by selecting a date and a time and setting the toggle to “On,” and clicking Finish
