How to import your contacts to Omnisend


Are you an E-commerce owner and want to switch and migrate your contacts to Omnisend? If so, then you’ll love this guide.

It can be an intimidating thought to migrate your contacts to another ESP but don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.

Typically, your contacts will be imported automatically when you connect your E-commerce store to Omnisend.

But If they did not get imported or If you have been using another Email service provider that Omnisend does not integrate with, then you can manually import your subscribers to Omnisend using a CSV file.

So we made this step-by-step tutorial to show you exactly how to do that.

Let’s get into it!

Import your contact list


(a) To Import your contacts into Omnisend, you must first export your contacts from your previous ESP and download the list as a CSV file.

(b) Click Audience on the top menu

(c) Click Add contacts

(d) Click Open wizard on the right side of File import to import your contacts as a CSV file

(e) Click Select file, and a file browser will open

(f) in the file browser, navigate and select your downloaded CSV file and click open

Map the data


You will now match the properties from your file with your contact’s properties in Omnisend. In simple terms, select the correct attributes for the data you imported.

(a) If the attribute is incorrect, click on the attribute, and select the correct attribute from the dropdown menu.

(b) If you don’t want to import certain property, do not select any attribute for it.

(c) Once you finish mapping the properties, Click Next

Apply a tag that indicates the source of the list to make organizing your contacts easier.

(a) To apply a tag, Scroll down in the “Organize” page

(b) Enter a tag in the tag section

(c) Click Add tag

(e) Review and make sure that everything is correct. Click Import if everything is fine
