How to create a marketing automation with Getresponse
Do you want to create a marketing automation with Getresponse? then this tutorial is all you need.
Getresponse has one of the most powerful automation tools among its competitors. It offers a range of trigger points, a rich set of actions and conditions, and advanced filtering choices.
We know that it can be a scary thought to create an automation, especially if you are new to email marketing.
So we decided to create this tutorial and guide you on how to create marketing automation with Getresponse.
Create your first automation
Set up a new automation
1. To set up an automation, click Automation.
2. Click Create workflow.
Choose a template
Getresponse has a lot of pre-built automations that cover a customer’s entire life cycle. Whether you want to grow your audience or nurture your already existing leads, Getresponse has it all.
1. If you want to create something advanced and specific, you can filter the templates to only see the automations that make sense to your business and goals.
2. It is necessary for all types of businesses to have an automation to welcome new customers/subscribers. To create one, filter the automations by Welcome.
3. There, you will see templates with various ranges of complexity. Preview the templates and select one that matches your preferences. But we recommend starting with a simple template.
4. If you can’t find any prebuilt automation that suits your needs, you can build one from scratch. To do so, click Build from scratch.
5. Enter a name for the automation. The name is for internal use only.
Once you enter a name for the automation, you can now start building the automation.

2. Now, you must choose a starting point, an action that your audience takes that triggers the automation
3. Select the trigger and go to properties to apply filters and conditions to get more specific about who can enter the automation.

1. To add actions in the workflow, use drag and drop and place the action anywhere in the workflow.
2. Connect two elements by connecting the dots.
3. To disconnect the elements, click on the line and click x.
4. To configure any action, select the element and go to PROPERTIES.
Add conditions
You can add conditions to split up your contacts based on what they did and didn’t do and create different journeys based on their actions.
Conditions have a positive (green) and negative (red) connector. If the conditions are met, the contacts will go down the positive path, and if the conditions are not met, they will go down the negative path.
1. Choose one of the conditions from the list and place it in the automation.
2. Configure the condition. For example, If you want to split up your contacts into two groups based on their interaction with a message. Choose the message you want to track and specify when to assume the condition wasn’t met.
3. Once you configure the condition, you can classify the contacts into two different groups with tags to identify the groups, create different customer journeys for each group or put them into two different automations based on their actions.

Filters allow you to segment and narrow down the groups of contacts that progress through your workflows.
These are all the filters that Getresponse offers:
Splitter
A splitter splits your contacts into two different paths so you can test the performance on two different groups.
This filter is helpful if you want to set up two different educational journeys and then check which of the messages got higher open and click rates.
Unique contacts
Unique contacts let you filter out contact duplicates based on whether they’ve already gone through a given workflow. Use it whenever you don’t want the same person to go through that workflow more than once.
Unique contacts will go down the positive path, and duplicate contacts will go down the negative path.
Consent status
The Consent status filter lets you separate contacts who’ve given specific consent from those who haven’t. It lets you plan a different journey for your contacts based on their Consent field status

Lists allow you to target specific contacts in your workflow based on one or more lists they’re in.

5. You can use Dynamic segment to target specific contacts in your workflow.
Within the Properties tab, you can configure the filter to target just the right segments of your customers who are in the workflow.

You can use the Range filter to limit a segment to a specified range, e.g. the first 50 subscribers who open the message, the next 50 contacts, and the rest. A range looks like this: 1-10, 51-60, and 101-110. You can set up to 6 ranges in a single element.
You can leave some gaps between your ranges. For example, ranges: 1-100 and 200-900 mean that the contacts who fall between your ranges will not become a part of the selected condition or an action.
Once you are done adding actions, conditions, and filters, hover over Save and Publish and click Save and publish
