How to correctly get started with Mailchimp

Create a Mailchimp account

1. Click the link below to go to the Mailchimp website

The free plan includes up to 500 contacts, with 1,000 sends per month and a daily limit of 500 sends.

1. Enter your email address, username, and password.

3. Open the verification email sent by Mailchimp and verify your email address by clicking Activate Account

You will be prompted to provide additional information about yourself and your business.

1. To get a more personalized experience, follow the prompts

2. If you don’t want to add specific information, click Skip

3. Based on your answers, Mailchimp will recommend a plan that suits your needs and goals. You can either Start a free trial or continue with the free plan by clicking Continue Free

Add and verify your email domain


Sending campaigns with a professional email address increases deliverability and customer trust.

Email domains are the part after @. For example, Nickname@domain.com.

1. To add an email domain to Mailchimp, click Website

4. Enter an email address that contains your domain

6. Open the verification email and Click Verify Domain Access or enter the Verification code from Mailchimp

Connect your domain to Mailchimp (Websites & Commerce Core plan)


If you plan to build a website or landing pages with Mailchimp, we recommend adding your own domain to give your site a professional look.

1. To add your domain to Mailchimp, navigate to Domains and click Connect a domain

2. In the Add a domain or subdomain field, enter the domain name you want to connect and click Submit.

3. Copy the CNAME record value provided.

4. In another browser tab or window, paste this value into the CNAME record field named www. If that record does not exist in your DNS records, create it.

5. Copy the A record value provided

6. Paste the value into the A record field in your domain provider account.

7. Return to the domains page and click Connect

Mailchimp has integrations with all known website builders and e-commerce platforms, allowing you to easily connect your store or site with just a few clicks

1. To connect your site, click Integrations

3. Click Browse Apps and Integrations

4. Search and select the app you want to connect with

5. Click Get Started

6. Follow the in-app prompts, authorize the connection, and sync your Mailchimp account with the app. Once you are done, you will be redirected to your Mailchimp account.

Set up the default sender’s information


To set up the sender’s information, you must add contacts to your Mailchimp account first.

1. After adding your contacts, go to the Audience dashboard

4. Click Settings again and go to Audience name and defaults

5. Scroll down to Campaign defaults

6. Enter the sender’s name and email address.
