How to get started and migrate to ActiveCampaign

Create an Activecampaign account


(a) Start by clicking the link below to go to the ActiveCampaign website.

(b) Enter your email address and click on the get started button.

(c) You will then need to fill out some information about yourself and your company.

  • Enter your name and your phone number
  • Fill out additional information about your company
  • Set up a password, and click on Take me to my account

You will be taken to your ActiveCampaign dashboard. In the dashboard, you can see all the tools, manage your contacts, campaigns, etc.

Add a default From email


A from email is the email seen as the sender for your campaigns. We recommend using a professional email to increase your campaign’s deliverability.

(a) To add default, go to Settings

(c) Enter your from email address, click submit, and verify your email address.

Add your business address


It’s required by law to include your business address in the emails you send.

(a) Click Settings and click Addresses

Turn off Activecampagin’s branding


(a) Go to settings

(C) Scroll down to the bottom of the page and set the toggle to “Off” by clicking it.

(d) Click on the Save Settings button

You have now set up the necessary settings to send your first email, but before we do that, let’s first learn how to manage your contacts in Activecampaign.

How to migrate to ActiveCampaign


If you have been using another email service provider, you must import your contacts into ActiveCampaign in order to send them emails.

Download your list as a file


To import your list to ActiveCampaign, you must first download your contact list from your previous email service provider as a CSV file.

Import the file in ActiveCampaign


(a) Go to Contacts

(d) Select the CSV file and click Open

(e) Scroll down and click Import Now

Set up additional settings


(a) Map the columns from your file to the correct attribute by clicking the dropdown on each field.

  • If you don’t wish to import certain data from a column, select “Do Not Import this Field
  • To create a new field directly from the import page, click “[Add New Field]” and follow the prompts

(b) Select the list you want to add contacts to. You can add contacts to multiple lists.

(c) Type the tags you wish to apply to the imported contacts.

  • Apply a tag that indicates the source of these contacts to easily find this group of contacts if you need to make any bulk edits to them later.

(d) you can leave the import options as it is and click Import now
