Convertkit Review: Is it the right choice for you?
Are you looking to get started with Convertkit? let’s find out if it’s the right tool for you.
Covertkit is relatively new in the world of email marketing, founded in 2013 by Nathan Berry.
The platform has a user-friendly interface and offers customizable forms and landing pages. Convertkit also offers niched features that help creators monetize their newsletters.
And for those reasons, Convertkit is one of the best tools for creators who are looking for a platform to help them build and maintain an engaged audience through email marketing.
Pros
Niched features for creators like digital products, tip jars, and automation templates that help creators monetize their newsletters.
The automation builder is beginner friendly, you can quickly build powerful paths without any effort!
You can build beautiful landing pages, and the best part is that the platform lets you use your own custom domain in the free plan.
Cons
Poor landing page editor compared to other services like Mailchimp or AWeber.
Limited design templates for emails and landing pages.

Pricing and features
Convertkit offers a free plan, which includes 1000 subscribers, unlimited forms, unlimited landing pages, and broadcasts.
The free plan lets you manage your list with tags and segments, and you also get access to the digital product online store.
But the free plan does not include automation or reports, which are crucial for a successful email marketing campaign, so you might want to consider the paid plans after testing out the platform.
The first paid plan(Creator) starts at $9/month for 1-300 subscribers. Converkit’s pricing structure is based on the subscriber count, so once your subscriber count exceeds 300, you’ll be charged additional subscriber fees.
With this plan, you’ll have access to the Creator network, automations, free migration, integrations with 3rd party apps, and an extra team member. This plan gives you access to all the basic features you need to market your content or products.
There is also a Creator pro plan, this plan includes everything in the Creator plan and additional features like priority customer support, unlimited team members, subscriber scoring, and advanced reporting.
The creator pro also gives you access to the Newsletter referral system that lets you reward your subscribers for sharing your newsletter.

Ease of use
It can’t go unnoticed that they have put a lot of effort into making Convertkit a beginner-friendly and easy-to-use marketing tool.
They have removed all the unnecessary tools and only included the key features for creators to run their campaigns.
So you won’t have to worry about all the unneeded complex options when creating automations or sending broadcasts.
Including only basic features has made it really easy to navigate through different tools that you actually need.
But the only issue that should be noted in this section is their terminology. Email campaigns are called “Broadcasts,” and email automations are called “Rules” and “Visual automations”
Ease of use score: 4 out of 5
Editor
Convertkit offers a fast and intuitive editor. The design is simple and self-explanatory.
You can add a range of content blocks, such as buttons, images, videos, products, etc.
However, you don’t have the option to add columns(multiple blocks next to each other).
Although the editor lets you add a Layout, you won’t be able to edit the size or position of the blocks in the layout, which could be an issue if the design of your emails is something important to you.
Editor score: 4 out of 5
Email marketing automation
Convertkit has a simple and easy-to-use automation.
You have 4 different options available when choosing a starting point for your workflow.
In terms of actions, you can choose between sending an email, a delay, adding/removing a tag, moving subscribers, or a custom field.
You can also add events where a contact gets pulled forward into the workflow once they take the desired action.
And finally, when it comes to conditions, you can only divide your contacts using tags.
Although they have managed to make it easy to build automations, it lacks some essential options.
Email marketing automation: 3.5 out of 5
Integrations
Convertkit has over 90 integrations with various third-party apps, such as Facebook, Shopify, WordPress, etc.
But there are still some crucial integrations that are missing, e.g. Instagram, TikTok, and Paypal.
The platform does not have advanced analytics integrations. Although Convertkit provides essential email campaign analytics, they do not offer advanced analytics for in-depth data analysis and reporting.
Integrations score: 3 out of 5
List management
With Convertkit, you only have one list of subscribers, but you are allowed to create unlimited tags and segments with their free plan, which is incredible.
The platform lets build contacts based on their source, location, date, and other data available to you.
But you might find it limiting if you need more advanced options, like engagement, behavior, sale amount, etc.

A few common trends stood out across the many reviews I filtered through and scanned.
Happy customers praised Convertkit’s beginner-friendly interface and liked how easy it is to build broadcasts and automated email sequences. Many reviewers were happy with the platform, writing that Convertkit has many neat email and landing page templates. Other reviewers praised Convertkit’s help center for having a lot of tutorials and how-to videos.
On the other hand, other customers were dismayed, stating that their terms and conditions are too strict, and some complained about the customer support not being helpful.

Is Convertkit the right choice for you?
As we mentioned earlier, Convertkit has tried to remove all the complex features to keep the learning curve as shallow as possible, this can be great if you are not a techy.
They also offer niched services only for creators, such as selling newsletter subscriptions, tip jars, newsletter rewarding systems, etc, which could be appealing if you plan to build a monetized newsletter.
Convertkit allows you to create sign-up forms and landing pages with your own domain for free.
If you are planning to capture leads through a landing page and do not have access to a landing page builder, then Convertkit is the best option for you!
However, Convertkit does not offer enough advanced features and integrations to run marketing campaigns for Enterprises or E-commerce businesses.
Even though you could use it for your small or medium-sized business, we recommend considering other options because the majority of templates are optimized only for creators.
That was it, we hope you found this Convertkit review helpful and learned about the features, pros, and cons.
