Pricing and features

Aweber recently introduced a free plan for users with fewer than 500 subscribers. You can sign up with your email and explore various features, including email automation, a landing page builder, a drag-and-drop email editor, pre-made email templates, and access to thousands of professional images.

However, you might find the free plan somewhat limiting. It caps you at 3000 emails per month, and you are allowed to only have one email list, a single landing page, and just one email automation. If your needs exceed these limits, you’ll need to upgrade to a higher-tier plan.

Aweber offers three pricing tiers: Light, Plus, and Unlimited.

The light plan starts at $12.50/month for 1-500 subscribers, with additional subscriber fees beyond that threshold.

This plan provides unlimited email sends and allows you to connect your domain to your landing page and site.

However, you’ll still be restricted to 1 email list, three landing pages, three email automations, and three user profiles.

Also, advanced landing page features and the ability to remove Aweber branding are not available in this tier.

Next tier, Plus plan. For $20/month, you’ll get 500 subscribers and access to unlimited landing pages, email automations, email lists, and user profiles. The Plus plan provides all features offered by Aweber, including advanced analytics, webpage tracking, lower transaction fees, and priority 24/7 Live support.

And finally, the Unlimited plan. This plan includes everything in the Plus plan.

But the pricing isn’t based on your subscriber count and comes at a fixed price of $899/month, this might be an attractive option if you have a list of more than 100,000 subscribers.

Ease of use

As mentioned earlier, Aweber has put simplicity as their focus and is designed to be user-friendly.

At times, it can get confusing with the terminology and separate dashboard for different email lists.

But apart from that, creating and publishing email campaigns and email automations is a breeze with their intuitive layout.

Aweber also offers Smart email designer, a feature that pulls your brand assets from your website and creates beautiful email templates within seconds.

Ease of use score: 4 out of 5

Editor

Aweber uses drag-and-drop for both email building and landing pages. The editor is easy to use and offers all the content blocks you need to create professional-looking emails.

Aweber also offers AMP emails, letting your customers directly interact with your email from their inboxes.

Aweber’s integration with Canva allows you to import custom designs into the email editor seamlessly.

They also integrate with Unsplash, allowing you to import free stock photos directly into the email editor.

Although the editor offers a range of advanced features, In my experience, it appeared a bit slow and laggy.

Editor score: 4.5 out of 5

Email marketing automation

Aweber has a user-friendly automation builder allowing you to build simple and uncomplex customer journeys with no effort.

However, its features are limited, and you won’t be able to create complex pathways. You will only be able to filter your audience by tags or lists.

Moreover, you don’t have a lot of options in terms of actions and conditions. You can only add, send a message, apply a tag, or set a waiting period.

Email marketing automation: 3 out of 5

Integrations

AWeber integrates with a wide range of third-party tools and platforms, such as Paypal, Stripe, Facebook, Shopify, and 753 other third-party tools and platforms.

But there are a number of integrations that Aweber does not have at the time, such as Shopify Plus, Adobe Experiencing, google data studio, etc.

Integrations score: 4 out of 5

Segmentation

Aweber allows you to segment your users based on various data such as demographic, date, engagement, sale amount, behavior, etc.

But still, it does not provide as advanced segmentation options as some other competitors.

A few common trends stood out across the many reviews I filtered through and scanned.

Happy customers liked Aweber’s intuitive, easy-to-use interface and high deliverability rates. Many reviewers were happy with the platform, writing Aweber is a solid and reliable platform. Other reviewers praised Aweber’s helpful customer support.

On the other hand, other customers were dismayed, stating that the price was too high for the value they got, and some complained about getting banned for no apparent reason.

Is Aweber the right choice for you?

I believe that Aweber is suitable for you if you don’t have a large email list.

The user-friendly interface and ease of use can also be compelling if you are just getting started with email marketing and marketing automations.

While I don’t fully advise against enterprise businesses and e-commerce owners using AWeber, it’s important to note that pricing can potentially be an issue. Moreover, Aweber lacks some advanced features and integrations.

If you plan to build complex automations and use advanced segmentation, you might want to consider other options like ActiveCampaign or Klaviyo.
