How to create a marketing automation with Convertkit
Do you want to create an automation with Convertkit? If so, then you will love this tutorial.
When you set up email automation, emails are sent automatically based on the conditions you set.
Convertkit offers a lot of pre-built automation templates, and creating automations is a breeze thanks to their user-friendly layout.
But it can get pretty complicated if you are new to email marketing, so we decided to make this tutorial to guide you on how to create your first automation with Convertkit.
Create your first automation
Set up new automation
1. Click Automate from the menu bar and select Visual automations.
2. Click New automation.
Choose a template
Convertkit has a lot of automation templates for creators.
Whether you want to grow or nurture your leads, Convertkit has it all.
- Filter the templates to see the ones that make the most sense to your goals.
2. If you don’t know where to begin, It is necessary for all types of businesses to have an automation to welcome new contacts. To create one, filter the automations by Connect.
3. Choose Welcome subscribers to your newsletter. Customize the content and activate the automation. Once the automation is triggered, the contact will go through the entire journey automatically.
4. If you have something special in mind that you can’t find in the templates, Click Start from scratch to customize your own automation.
Build/edit the automation
Add a trigger
1. Choose a trigger, an action that your audience takes that triggers the automation.
2. Configure the trigger. For example: Choose form should a contact join to trigger the automation.
3. You can also add a Custom field based on country, source, member rating, last name, and subscribed date.
Add Actions
1. click Add Event.
2. Click the plus and select Action.
3. Choose an action from the list.
4. Configure the action and click Add Action.
Add Conditions
You can add conditions to split up your contacts based on what they did and didn’t do and create different journeys based on their actions.
Conditions have a positive (yes) and negative (no) connector. If the conditions are met, the contacts will go down the positive path, and if the conditions are not met, they will go down the negative path.
1. To add a condition, click on the plus Icon.
2. Select Condition.
3. Choose a condition.
4. Configure the condition.
Add Events and activate the automation
1. You can also add Events that will pull a subscriber forward in the automation if they take the desired action.
Events can be effective if you set up a 5-6 email sequence to sell a product. If the customer buys the product, they will be pulled forward to the next step in the automation.
2. You can follow the same steps as actions and conditions to add an Event in your automation.
3. To activate the automation, click one Live toggle on the top right corner and click Turn it on!
